What’s New in IPL 2026 | Full List of Rule Tweaks

IPL 2026 introduces ball change for dew, match-day practice ban, stricter stadium rules, 13 venues, and steady format. Get all major changes explained.

IPL 2026 has landed with fresh tweaks that will influence every match. The BCCI has introduced practical updates to keep the league fairer, faster, and more organized. Here is a full list of rule tweaks reported:

1. One-Time Ball Change for Dew

Night games now allow a one-time ball change after the 10th over in the second innings — but only for a used ball matching the original wear. This evens out dew without giving chasers a free edge.

2. No Practice on Match Days

Teams can’t hold nets, fitness tests, or warm-ups on the main pitch anymore. Practice wickets are strictly allocated, and early finishers can’t poach extra time. Pitch protection is the goal.

3. Stricter Stadium Protocols

Players must use team buses (split if needed), with families separate. Presentation dress code: no sleeveless jerseys or slippers. Substitutes get designated seats, not LED boards.

4. 13 Venues Nationwide

The league expands to 13 cities, adding Raipur and spreading matches wider. PBKS use Dharamsala, RR use Guwahati; bringing IPL 2026 to more fans.

5. Format Holds Steady

No big shake-up here: 84 matches with 10 teams in two groups. The focus stays on balanced competition.

These changes make IPL 2026 smoother behind the scenes, letting the cricket shine brighter. With the opener (RCB vs SRH) underway, expect them to show up fast. Do let us know in the comments section if you noticed something new in IPL 2026.
